Rhododendron -- Christmas Cheer An extrteme burst of color to light up the spring mornings. The big shrub is about the same size as an automobile.

Western Azalea This is the common azalea in the north/central part of California. I collected this image along the access road from near I-5 on the way up to Castle Lake, near Mt. Shasta.

Rhododendron -- Oldhamii A common rhodo that doesn't stand out when placed near some of the killer blooms in a spring setting in Berkeley. Nice to view, however.

California Poppy The state flower of California. They grow readily along roads and in fields. Numerous wherever the earth has been disturbed the previous season.

King George Rhododendron A full tree with huge blossom heads

Mucrante A solid member of the Rhodo family and a sturdy bloom

Camellia yunnanensis AChinese bloom to show how good the flower from the orient can be

Japonica A very delicate and advanced flower with subtle beauty in its simplicity
